North Syracuse, NY - by Farah Jadran

All month-long, when you round up your total at the register at Chuck Hafner's Farmers Market and Garden Center in North Syracuse - the store will donate the added change To Hope for Heather.

The non-profit provides ovarian cancer education, funds research and provides patient support in Central New York. Linda Hafner, the co-founder of the family farmers market and garden center, passed away in November of 2018 after a battle with ovarian cancer.

Now, son Jess Hafner continues the family business.

Jess reached out to Hope for Heather about the "round-up register" donations to honor his mom's memory.

The team at Chuck Hafner's Farmers Market and Garden Center in North Syracuse is encouraging customers to take part in the donation efforts at the register.

Jess is also serving as one of Hope for Heather's Men of Teal, which is in annual campaign featuring 30 Central New York men raising ovarian cancer awareness through social media.

September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Friday, Sept. 4, is National Wear Teal Day.

Hope for Heather will be hosting its annual Teal Ribbon Run virtually this year but the annual "painting of the teal line" will still happen. It's set for 10 a.m. on Sept. 9 outside Minoa Village Hall. Social distancing and face masks will be required.
