Cards 4 Cancer - Support
and Encouragement for 500+ Locally 04/10/2010 - teams of local volunteers in Syracuse and surrounding neighborhoods created and gathered over 500 cards to be distributed to individuals battling cancer. They delivered the uplifting cards to the Upstate and Golisano Children's Hospitals. The local team was one of many around the world who took part in an effort to deliver over 100,000 cards to cancer centers across the globe. This was part of a Global event organized by the nonprofit organization: Spirit Jump. On Cards 4 Cancer Day, thousands of individuals around the world delivered uplifting cards to local cancer centers in hopes of raising patients spirits and helping them in their fight. "While many incredible campaigns focus on the research, thousands lay in hospital beds in need of support. Cards 4 Cancer Day focuses on those sometimes forgotten fighters." said Meaghan Edelstein, the Founder of Spirit Jump and a young adult cancer survivor. "We were very pleased with the turnout here. It's so nice to see neighbors and families coming together for a good cause." stated Frieda Weeks president of Hope for Heather, the local team organizer.
